First-generation college graduate from James Madison University.

At JMU Engineering, I had a project-based learning experience and tailored it to my interests of mechanical and systems engineering. With my 2-year long capstone project, I was fortunate to be the project manager of the shell eco-marathon team, a team of 6 talented engineering students.

My latest experience has been working with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office in art unit 2655 as a Mechanical Engineer examining patents in natural language processing. I primarily worked with neural network architectures in machine learning applications used in areas such as speech recognition, speaker identification, and text generation.

My Skills

  • MATLAB & SIMULINK

    MATLAB & SIMULINK

Provided coding experience for modeling my capstone project’s fuel-efficient vehicle around a raceway track and developing a strategy.

  • SolidWorks

Modeled different components on my capstone project’s fuel efficient vehicle. I possess essentials and drawings training for SolidWorks.

  • Machine Learning

Reviewed state-of-the-art neural network architectures used in machine learning applications for Natural Language Processing.

  • Technical Writing

Drafted technical papers mixed with legalese writing to attorneys and companies regarding inventive features of their patent applications.

My Projects

  • JMU Shell Eco-marathon Fuel-Efficient vehicle

Building a fuel-efficient vehicle from scratch.

  • jmu shell eco-marathon mathematical model

Building a simulation model for the fuel-efficient vehicle.

  • Dr. Moran's human-powered vehicle

Designing and building a human-powered vehicle for a JMU professor with cerebral palsy.

  • Jonah's helpers - Let the music play

Designing a musical adaptation for an elementary student with special needs.

  • kakuma refugee camp stove project

Designing a concept for stoves in a refugee camp.

“Quality means doing it right when no one is looking”

- Henry Ford

A personal trait that I strongly value is performing work at my upmost quality. When conducting my work, I revolve it around the idea of how my piece fits within the overall picture i.e. what does the person receiving my work need in order for them to be successful with their specific task/project. While working on a project, I embrace a human-centered design approach as to bring a quality and creative solution to life.

Value of Teamwork

I value teamwork in engineering because it fosters innovation and enhances problem-solving abilities. Engineering projects often involve complex systems that require the expertise and perspectives of individuals from different backgrounds. Collaborating with others allows for the sharing of unique ideas, leading to more comprehensive solutions and a higher level of creativity! When team members pool their knowledge and skills, it becomes easier to anticipate potential challenges, explore various approaches, and optimize designs for better results.

I have found that teamwork in engineering builds an environment of support and accountability. Working together helps distribute tasks efficiently, preventing burnout and ensuring that projects stay on schedule. This collaborative spirit also cultivates trust and strengthens communication, essential for effective project management. I have grown a tremendous amount by taking lead in projects and working with talented individuals that make challenges and learning a thrill!
